Workshop overview

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will be introduced in Queensland from July 2016. While we don’t know all the details yet, the NDIS brings the opportunity for people with disability and the people closest to them, to have a greater say over their support arrangements.

This one day workshop reviews what we know about the NDIS and what it will mean for people with a disability. It will be an opportunity to explore what people with disabilities, and the people who support them, can do now to ensure they can best benefit from this opportunity.

We will explore topics such as what it takes to have a good life; what support could look like; the contribution of family and friends; choice, self-direction and what it will mean to take control.

This interactive day will offer practical strategies on where to start, how to stay connected and how we might design and create support that suits the person, enables them to live a good life and is sustainable over time.

A light lunch will be provided.
